Sometimes series just shouldn't be series. At least in my humble opinion. All the ping ponging and back and forth sometimes feels like its just filler to drag out the story line into more than one book.

I think that if a book is really full then when the second in the series comes out we're all dying to get our hands on it. But the ones that seem to drag things out...even should the writing characters and plat be good....those are the ones that get put on the back burner.

Oh wow another reincarnation book. I too, love it when you can't tell who the bad guys are. It makes it more fun to keep guessing and then I like to be shocked with the big Scoobie Doo reveals.
I too, suffer from that same problem, loved the first book but hesitate to grab the second. I think it is because I am too distracted by all the new reads out there!

I'm glad you ended up liking this one as well, even if it was harder getting into the sequel. I hate when that happens! This is another one of those series I've been super curious about but haven't gotten to reading yet. I'm really curious! I haven't read either of these books but they're definitely on my wishlist. I love the idea of secret societies and mysteries. Interesting that this is a YA but that it has an adult/more mature feel. Good for high schoolers? Sounds like I maybe shouldn't recommend it to my middle schoolers.

That's the main problem I had with Haven in the first book, she would just believe what anyone told her and then she'd ping pong back and forth and I just wanted to tell her to pick something to believe and stick with it! Still really enjoyed the overall story in the first one though, so I'm looking forward to the new secrets and things revealed in this book:) Thanks Candace!

I loved the first book so you would think I would have read the second one right away, but I haven't. One of my friends told me that she had a hard time getting into it and even though I wouldn't normally let that stop me, it's made me drag my feet even more so.

I'm glad for your review because now I'll push myself to get to it soon!
