The top 10 best books of 2012, so far...

Today I figured I would share my top favorites of the year that I've read so far.  This doesn't mean they were released this year, just that I read them this year.  I've read 100 books so far this year, and this is just ten of the best of them.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
When I finished this one I said it would be on my all time favorites list.  It made me laugh, and cry and scream.  It was the full range of emotions and was absolutely FANTASTIC!

Freshman Year and Other Unnatural Disasters by Meredith Zeitlin
This is most definitely one of the funniest books I've EVER read.  Kelsey Finkelstein is on my favorite characters list because she's funny, and she's someone anyone can relate to.  I just loved her!  This is a book I could read over and over again.

Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard
I love road trip books but this was different because it was out of the country and she was backpacking with strangers!  I think it's an important story that every teen should read, they need to remember to live their lives and not be too eager to start a family or a career, as they'll just leave their dreams behind. This book was full of fabulous characters and gorgeous scenery!
Exiled by M.R. Merrick
This one was fabulous because it has a male MC and it's a mix of urban fantasy and epic fantasy.  It blew me away!
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Epic fantasy with Russian flavor!  A main character that was unlike any other.  And this was a story that totally took me by surprise with the twists I found inside!
The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
Such an amazing (though scary!) world!  I don't know what to say other than this is one book that will stay in my head for a very long time!
The Right and the Real by Joelle Anthony
This is a contemporary that felt very different to me.  It shows so many different things, but one of which is to not judge others.  I really can't recommend this book any more highly, it was such a powerful book.

 In Honor by Jessi Kirby
Jessi Kirby is one of the most beautiful writers I've ever read.  Ever word is gorgeous and powerful at the same time.  This book was a journey and not one I'll easily forget.

The Sweetest Dark by Shana Abe
This one took me off guard because I randomly got it and hadn't heard anything about it.  I just thought it sounded good.  And HOLY WOW!  It completely BLEW MY MIND!  This has a main character that's going to the top of my favorites list, it's got history and fantasy and so much beauty!  This is one I'll rave about for years to come!
Cornerstone by Misty Provencher
I often go into self published books a little afraid as I don't really know what to expect.  Straight off the bat I knew this was a winner as the author had me dying to know more and the hints here and there of what was going on had me screaming for answers (in a good way!).

Have you read any of these?  Do you have a favorites list for so far this year?

  11. I think that Shadow and Bone deserves to be on everyone's top ten -- it was such an amazing book, and hug-worthy to the nth degree! I still haven't read The Fault in Our Stars or Cornerstone although I really want to, and I remember that your amazing review was the one that made me want to read Freshman Year! I still haven't been able to get my hands on a copy, but I'm really really trying to! :')

Amazing list, Candace! Top tens always remind me how alike we can be or how many books I need to read or both LOL x) <3

  15. Loved Immortal Rules and Freshman Year! I loved Under the Never Sky and Incarnate and I just finished The Vicious Deep which was a great book from a guy's first person pt of view, a guy with a pretty high opinion of himself and funny! I loved that one!
I enjoyed Cornerstone. I've read several by Elle Casey I've loved this year and a serial by Rachel Morgan I'd have to list at my top this year.

There are so many good books coming out this year and so many already out it really is hard to narrow it down. (Plus last yr and this yr are running together for me).

And where did The Sweetest Dark come from? Never heard of it before today, but now I'm dying to get my hands on it.
