After a peaceful hiatus at home in Rockabill, Jane True thinks that her worst problem is that she still throws like a girl – at least while throwing fireballs. Her peace of mind ends, however, when Anyan arrives one night with terrible news . . . news that will rock Jane’s world to its very core.
After demanding to help investigate a series of gruesome attacks on females — supernatural, halfling, and human — Jane quickly finds herself forced to confront her darkest nightmares as well as her deepest desires.
And she’s not sure which she finds more frightening.

Spoiler free for any books in the series.
Jane True has turned out to be a fantastic character.  In each book she grows more and finds more of herself.  It’s not an easy ride, as Jane has to go through a lot to get there, but she is one brave chick!  I’ve really enjoyed watching her evolve from the first book.
This whole series is full of some of the best description of crazy characters that I’ve run across.  Nicole has put everything in these books.  Seriously.  Every creature you could ever think of is probably here.  And her descriptions of them, their abilities, personalities, etc- is perfect.  It’s definitely one thing that really makes me love the books even more.  You never know what sort of creature may show up next.
There are hot guys.  Crazy people.  Intense action.  Romance.  There’s lots of funny bits, Jane seriously thinks crazy stuff in her head and trust me when I tell you it’ll give you the giggles.  But there’s lots of darkness.  Parts that aren’t easy to read.  Things that scare you, break your heart and freak you out.  But Jane is there with you.  You’ll make it.
If you like urban fantasy with lots of action, a little bit of sex and crazy characters than try them out!
Spoilery for previous books.
I’m not sure if it was just my mood or not, but I think I liked this one more then the previous books!  Maybe it was cause Anyan is in more of it.  And wow, that dog is HOT.  He seemed lighter in this one.  You know, not as serious.  He was just as kick ass, but he seemed just more understanding and just lighter than before.  Maybe that’s just me and my awful memory though.
Jane has really grown up and I think Nicole has made her progression come along at a perfect speed.  With her strength and growth of her powers her love life has also made a change.  And while I like Ryu I just don’t think he’s the one for her.  And so I was happy to see things begin to change.
There was some serious darkness in this one.  Some horrific things we were forced to see through Janes eyes.  She was so brave though and so determined to bring the perpetrators down and she stuck to her guns!
Jane was still her funny self.  Her libido was saying some very very hilarious things.  I had some good giggles to go along with that darkness and horror I mentioned before.  Which was nice.  I like a bit of a balance.  I think maybe at times Jane annoyed me but I can’t quite put my finger on what it is exactly.  It’s nothing big and really overall I love this series!  I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!
