Demi Lavato has really inspired me this past year. All that she has gone through with her weight and the pain of being so harshly critiqued and being able to come away from all of it so strong made me reevaluate everything about myself that I hate and would change. She inspired me to see myself as beautiful and to love the skin I am in, no matter what anyone says or does to me. Thanks for this contest! Five Flavors of Dumb sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteYay!!! Thanks for the contest Candace! Lets see, an artist that has really inspired me is ...probably Ronnie Milsap. I grew up with my parents constantly playing his music. He came to a local festival and gave a concert and I was really excited to go with my mom. The entire performance I never even knew he was blind! He played piano perfectly and walked all over the stage with total confidence! Not to mention he never once fell of the stage! It wasn't until he autographed a picture for me and I asked why his writting was just a weird squiggle that I found out he was blind! lol I felt completely embarassed but, I had a great admiration for him!!! He is a great inspiration to me, and shows that no matter what disabilities you may devolop along lifes way or be born with, you can achieve anything!!!

the band Nightwish has definitaly inspired me! I discovered them in high school and i dressed very plain Jane because i was scared to show my true self. Listening to Nightwish just made me not care anymore! :) Imagine everyone's faces when the girl they all knew as the quiet mouse turned up as a top fashion goth!
ReplyDeleteAnyway this book sounds fantastic!
Thanks for the giveaway!

I find it hard to chose just one. A lot of people/bands have inspired me. I find all music inspiring.
Such awesome answers! I'm really glad I asked this question because I'm discovering some new music. Always good!
ReplyDeleteI have several but one is The Cranberries and another is Nirvana. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Nirvana. I tend to love 90's music and have a hard time finding new music I love as much.
I'm seeing that music has inspired people to become MORE, to dig deep and discover your true selves. LOVE that!
For example, Lorena McKennitt is ideal for paint!!

I think that if I've to choose just one band, it must be the R.E.M.

Hmm...I'm gonna go with Jack Johnson. He infuses so much positive energy into his music that it's hard not to feel inspired.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the awesome giveaway.

I read Five Flavors of Dumb a little bit ago, and it was really good. Thanks so much for the giveaway, and the info on Antony John's!
ReplyDeleteHope you don't mind if I tweak the question a bit, and go with something book-related. Music doesn't "inspire" me, but while I'm writing, I listen to a lot of angsty stuff, and some hopeful stuff, and a lot about war and world suckage. It's kind of a theme throughout. :P
Thanks so much for the giveaway!

I would probably say Anna Nalick and Mumford and Sons because I find their lyrics so beautiful and meaningful. I'm not a huge music person, but their words have really touched me.

While not a band per se, the sound track from Interview With a Vampire is absolutely magnificent to dream/create to! Such incredible orchestration & choir~

Right now I'm really into Adele, so many of her songs on only sound beautiful but really show the heartache that people experience.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway, I have been wanting to read this book.

I do a lot of design work at work and at home, and I always listen to music. Designing is a lot easier that way. If I want a design with a lot of action, I tend to listen to Paramore. But if I want a softer design, I'll listen to Florence + The Machine.
ReplyDeleteSorry, forgot email.

The early ladies of blues/jazz are inspiring to me - Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald. They had their personal issues and all, but they were tough as nails, hard-working, and supremely talented. (@loveyalitblog)
ReplyDeleteSo hard to choose! Dead Can Dance - they were out of this world.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this giveaway!

Wow, great question and hard decision. I'd have to say it's a toss up between Sarah McLaughlin, Breaking Benjamin, and Skillet-they inspire me in different ways at different times.

The band that I seem to get the most inspiration from is Matchbox Twenty. The lyrics and his voice... I've even based entire novel ideas around the imagery that their songs have given me. I usually listen to them if I write, and there isn't one song that I dislike.

This is a great giveaway! The band that's most inspired me is Green Day. I just connect to their music on a purely emotional level. Also the lyrics are utterly amazing. Snarky and funny, philosophical and intelligent, and sometimes raunchy. There's a Green Day song for every mood I'm in. I've thought up characters based off the music and the band so many times I can't count. Anytime I head one of their songs I instantly smile, regardless of what the song is. They make me want to be braver, bolder, more confident, just a better version of me. So that's the band that inspires me.
ReplyDeleteMy email is maxride14@gmail.com
I love Blue October. The singer has bipolar disorder and is figthing it.
ReplyDeletekapranova.sofija@gmail.com
I listened to a lot of Everclear when I was younger and even now when I do the songs still speak to me. I find I really relate to some of the songs, and well, the ones I don't I sing along to anyway!

Coldplay. Their music is always a great source of inspiration.

I was always inspired by Pat Benatar. She had opera training and was one of the most successful female rock singers as she is one of the only ones who ever won a grammy.

I come from the grunge era and Chris Cornell has always been the best in my book. He was the lead singer of Soundgarden and later Audio Slave. His band, Soundgarden, teamed up with Pearl Jam to form the supergroup Temple of the Dog, which is absolutely mind blowing. He is still recording, 20 years later, as a solo artist and he sounds just as spectacular.
ReplyDeletejasmyn9[at]hotmail[dot]com
Hmm, I'd have to say Matchbox Twenty, Genesis, Linkin Park, and Three Days Grace just to name a few. They are some of my many favorites. ALthough as to music that has influenced me, I'm not sure. Maybe Owl City. I think I have a bit more of a positive outlook on some things since I started listening to it.
