September 12th to 22nd I'm participating in Blogorama Bonanza which is a giveaway hop. This hop is different because the prize needs to worth $75 or more. There are a max of 200 (I think that's what she said...) bloggers participating. It's put together by Jyla at Three of Us Giveaway. She is not a book blogger and most participating are not book bloggers. I thought that this would be a way to get some new people to notice book blogs and I want to give away books and gift cards.
So my idea was that maybe a few bloggers (and/or authors) would be interested in doing this with me. How it would work is you would agree to contribute to the giveaway. You could give away a book (finished copies only since we're working with value here) or a gift card. It could be any genre of book but would need to be in new condition (it could be read once, but look new), or a gift card of $5 or more (or you could send $5 pay pal so I could get one larger GC). In return I post your button, a brief description of your blog (or website), what your contributing and your links (blog, twitter, facebook, etc). The entry to the giveaway is going to be kept simple with only one or two entries, but I'm thinking if people know what you blog about (your genres, etc) that may be compelled to visit you. And of course my regular bookish followers may discover you through this as well.
Are you interested in featuring your business instead? I'd be happy to have you give away a product to go with whatever books I'll already be giving away. I'm pretty open to this, but it needs to be appropriate. By this I mean no sex toys, etc. Some things that would be awesome are items with bookish sayings, soaps, candles, jewelry, purses... the list goes on. And of course, with the giveaway I would include your links and a visual to go with (the product itself and your site button, etc).
An example for what it may look like if you are a book blogger contributing:
Candace is a book blogger at Candace's Book Blog (links to site). She reviews childrens books on occasion, some middle grade, a lot of young adult and a bit of adult paranormal, urban fantasy, historical fiction and occasionally other genres. She also does author interviews, guest posts and many bookish giveaways.(You can write up your own so you can what you like, this is only an example.)
Candace is contributing $10 to go towards a gift card for the giveaway.or (if you decide to contribute a book(s))
Candace is contributing the following books:One Grave at a Time by Jeaniene Frost, Heartless by Gail Carriger and The Unwanteds by Lisa McMann.
You can find her at:Candace's Book Blog (links to blog)Twitter- @candacemom2two (links to twitter page)and facebook (links to facebook)
At the bottom I'll include a picture of all the books being given away and/or a gift card with the amount because I think a visual is important.
So, are you interested? Do you have some of your own ideas? Please feel free to let me know! Leave a comment or email me at candace_redinger(at)yahoo(dot)com
I hope to hear from you!
UPDATE: I have a few who have responded and it's looking good! I do still need more though!
Also, a few don't quite understand. Please feel free to email me with questions.
I'll try to explain here though. The giveaway will be on my blog. I will list all the people who are giving away a book(s) or contributing to a giftcard and will include your blog description (or site) and include a button or visual as well as your links. I can't PROMISE that people will go to your blog, it will not be required and you don't have to post anything about it on YOUR blog (though you can write up a post letting your readers know to come to MY blog to enter). But I'm hoping that when people see your cute buttons and read the descriptions of your blogs that they will check you out. I'm also brainstorming a way to include an extra entry. I don't want them to have a million different ways to enter. I want it to be simple. So I'm thinking that maybe they can have an extra entry by following one or more of the blogs sponsoring the giveaway. That way they'll at least look through the list more carefully to pick a blog they would like to follow. Hopefully they'll follow more then one. I'm still thinking on that though... maybe I'll come up with a better solution. I'm hoping I covered everything here. It seems like there are always more questions though, so please email me if you have some!
