Today Leah Braemil is on for My Favorite Things! This is featuring an erotic adult novel so if your under 18 then skip this post please :)
Married to her college sweetheart and the mother of two sons, Leah Braemel is the only woman in a houseful of men—even their cat is male. Shoving her writing in the closet while she raised her family, she gained some varied and interesting insights while working with a security firm made up primarily of ex-military men and later teaching computers to women escaping abusive relationships. Now a full-time writer, Leah loves tormenting her heroes and heroines before rewarding them with a happy-ever-after.

Thanks for joining us for My Favorite Things! For the past several weeks we've had fun learning about everyone's favorites. But it's always fun to learn a bit about the characters that the authors come up with. So who is your favorite character in your book(s) and why?
Oh wow, that's like having to choose amongst your favorite children. I think Sam, from Personal Protection, will always be my favorite character, but Brett from Texas Tangle and Nate and Jackson from Tangled Past are tied for a close second. (which makes me feel guilty about the others I haven't mentioned because I love them too.) Anyway, back to Sam. He's one of those big guys who comes across real tough, but inside you know he's a big teddy bear that needs cuddling. He's got a laid-back personality with a sense of humor (which I find the sexiest thing about men) but he's still very alpha and when he walks into a room, everyone's head turns, even the guys. (Yes, I've met people like that in real life. It's quite a feeling.) But honestly I think it's because he was such a larger than life character in my head which made him easy to write and so I feel more disposed to like someone who has made my life easier. ;)
What is some of that characters favorite things? (This can be ANYTHING. Reading, eating ice cream, hot men/women, anything!)
At this stage, now he's found the love of his life, Rosie, I can see his favorite thing would be to have a quiet Saturday morning with Rosie -- no responsibilities, no deadlines, just them both lounging in bed reading the newspaper or their favorite magazine while CNN plays in the background. When he's not seducing Rosie, that is. ;)
Now what are some of your favorites off the top of your head?
Sitting at the edge of a lake or ocean and listening to the waves crash, especially if there are trees around with the wind blowing through them. A good book. The sound of my boys laughing. Coconut ice from a little candy shop in York, England.
What are 5 of your favorite authors or titles?
Akk, I have to choose just 5? Patricia Brigg's Moon Called. I love her whole Mercy Thompson series, as well as her Alpha & Omega series. The world she's built, and the characters she's created have such amazing depth that I want to know more about everyone (especially Bran...I want to see him with someone better than his current wife); Julia Quinn's The Duke and I (this was really hard to chose -- I loved her The Viscount Who Loved me almost as much); Sherrilyn Kenyon's Night Play (that's the one about Vane & Bride); Lauren Dane's Laid Bare (actually any of that Brown series belongs here); JR Ward's Lover Eternal (Rhage & Mary's story)
If you could travel anywhere in the world (now) what are three places at the top of your list?
Britain is at the top of the list but I don't want to go just for a week or so, I want to go for an entire summer and meander up one coast and down the other. (With someone else driving -- the roads over there scare me.) I'd especially love to spend some time in , and scout aroundScotland as well as revisit York. There's so much history to be soaked in. I get a big kick out of walking through a market where there's a stone marker that was placed in the 1100s or a church that's been used since the 1300s and knowing I'm possibly standing on the same spot one of my ancestors did. For my second destination, I'd head back out to the Rockies and explore the area around Banff (that's near Calgary) and try to imagine what it was like for the early settlers as well as soaking up some of that cowboy essence that is strong in that area for further inspiration.) For my third place...hmmm...I think I'd like to visit New Zealand. It looks so lovely--and rather similar to Canada, just packed in much more tightly ;) (I'm not ignoring the States, but I've traveled to 22 states already and plan to add another to my list in 2 weeks, as well as heading down again to NC in the fall.)
If you could time travel where would you go (time period and place) and why?
Wow this one really made me stop to think. I'm torn between going into the future, and going back 200 or so years to see what it was like right here where my house is. From what I understand the place where I live in Ontario was much more wooded, with big huge trees that were all cut down and shipped back to England. Of course, I don't think I'd want to stay too long unless I can take some of the comforts from today (like a complete medical kit, and a much better weapon than a bow and arrow or a brown bess musket.)
What can we expect to see from you in the future?
My editor at Samhain has made an offer for Hidden Heat, the next in my contemporary Hauberk Protection series. She's also putting together a print copy of the first and third books in that series that should come out next year.
Thanks, Candace! I've enjoyed being part of your blog.
