Description:

Danger waits on both sides of the grave.

Half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her vampire husband Bones have fought for their lives, as well as for their relationship. But just when they’ve triumphed over the latest battle, Cat’s new and unexpected abilities threaten to upset a long-standing balance . . .
With the mysterious disappearance of vampires, rumors abound that a species war is brewing. A zealot is inciting tensions between the vampires and ghouls, and if these two powerful groups clash, innocent mortals could become collateral damage. Now Cat and Bones are forced to seek help from a dangerous “ally”—the ghoul queen of New Orleans herself. But the price of her assistance may prove more treacherous than even the threat of a supernatural war . . . to say nothing of the repercussions Cat never imagined.

My Thoughts on the series as a whole, no spoilers!
I’ve followed this series from the first book and have loved every one!  Even the spin off books are great.  And just so you know, I highly recommend reading every book in order, including the spin off books.  If you skip the spin off ones before reading this book you will get spoilers, so if you plan on reading them, read them in order of release.
The story progresses so much through each book in this series!  Cat grows so much and you see her go through so much that you can’t help but be proud of her for dealing with everything so well.
Bones, oh Bones.  Bones is most every woman’s dream man.  If you haven’t read this series and haven’t heard of the famous Bones you must be living in a rock, because it seems everyone raves about his deliciousness.  And delicious he is!
If your a fan of paranormal and urban fantasy then you’ll surely like this series.  It’s full of vampires, ghouls, magic and otherworldly creatures.  Oh, and lots of hot men, er, vamps.

My Thoughts on this book, spoilers for previous books in the series:
This book was great!  It was nice to see Bones and Cat not having the relationship issues they had in the previous books and being able to work together without those things getting in the way.
They were both just as kick ass in this book as the previous ones but Cat has acquired some new abilities that gives this book some interesting twists and turns.  She’s learning more about herself as a vampire and what she can do, but is still strong in keeping to her morals, which I really like.
One thing I really like is how Jeaniene incorporates her sex into the books.  She does a very few descriptive sex scenes, but they are very well wrote.  I hate having a sex scene in every chapter, and so I like that she lets us use our imaginations most of the time but provides us with some images with just a sex scene or two.  We thought Cat and Bones had done it all in previous books, but nope!  There’s definitely some new stuff in this one!  Now Cat is a vampire and has some advantages sexually to a human… other then being to heal quickly, or being killed from some wild S.E.X.  You’ll just have to read it to get those details though!
I loved the ending!  I thought I saw it coming, but I wasn’t for sure.  Those who have read it know what I’m talking about.  But I really think that it’s going to bring about an interesting twist in future books.

  1. Candace I LOVED your review! You were absolutely right about everything that you mentioned especially the part of Bones being every woman’s dream man! Ah to have Bones to myself I would lock myself up with him in the house and would never have to leave. :D

  2. I was so happy that there weren’t any relationship issues too. The book before this one nearly killed me with them. I looovveee the series but I wanted to cry when Bones and Cat weren’t together.
