My Thoughts: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

The time has come… Candace is officially a Harry Potter fan.  I’m not yet a die hard fan, but I can feel it coming on.  I am feeling the urge to read the third book, I’m getting excited to see where things are going and I’m excited to finish up the books so I can watch the movies!

For those of you who don’t already know, this is my first time reading Harry Potter.  I liked the first book but didn’t love it.  I gave it 3 stars.  But I knew that as Harry grew up a bit and things grew more intense I would like it more.

This book definitely stepped it up another notch.  I gave it 4 stars.  Harry had grown up just a bit from the first book and things were maybe a bit more intense, but not much.  However, I do think the characters have really grown on me!

I’m trying to hurry through some books so I can read the next one, pronto!  And I can’t wait to share my thoughts with you guys once I do!

  1. OMGosh! You are only reading “Harry Potter” for your first time? I am actually in shock… I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but (IMO at least), books 3-5 are really good and maybe even 6, but book 7? Not so much. Have you ever seen the movies before?

  2. No, I haven’t seen the movies. I’ve seen bits and pieces but I don’t know the story line at all. I kind of remember seeing Hogwarts and the forest and the characters, of course, but it seems the tiny bit I’ve seen isn’t influencing the books at all. I tried to make a point to NOT watch the movies, but it was hard sometimes!

  3. I’m reading them for the first time for the Potter-Thon too!!! I’m just starting The Prisoner of Azkaban and I’m totally getting hooked. Can’t wait to see the movies either! So glad you’re enjoying them too. :)

  4. Wow…really?
You’ve been waiting 10 years or so to read the books??
    Well…better late than never^^

I personally didn’t like the third book so much…my favorites are the last three books. It gets so complex in the end that one can understand why it took J.K.Rowling three years to figure out the whole story.

Hope you will love HP as much as I do. For me it was a huge part of my childhood. I grew up with HP.^^
I can’t believe that it’s gonna be all over when the last movie will be released in summer =(

    Happy Reading =)

    xoxo

  5. I’m sooo happy you are starting to get hooked! I think its funny how everyone likes different books in the series! I think they are all great.

  6. I’m excited for you! The 3rd book is when things really start getting good and more serious. And after that (according to me) each book is better than the one before it, with Deathly Hallows being the best!

  7. I am a first-time reader too! I think the Potter-thon is such a fun idea. I am really liking them too. I am in Bk. 5, and so far I think 3 is my favorite. Can’t wait to see your thoughts on it! :)
