In the beginning, there’s a boy standing in the trees. . .

Clara Gardner has recently learned that she’s part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what it is, though, isn’t easy.

Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place–and out of place, at the same time. Because there’s another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara’s less angelic side.

As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she’d have to make–between honesty and deciet, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?

My Thoughts:
I kept hearing amazing things about this book but wasn’t sure I’d be into it.  I’m a little sick of the same ol’ thing with angels.  Well, this is definitely not the same ol’ same ol’!  This book was completely different from the other angel books out there.  Hated the others?  Give this one a try!  For one the angel is the girl instead of the guy.  But the entire story is just completely unique.
This takes place in Wyoming.  The pretty part, Jackson Hole.  Now I’ve lived in Wyoming and I have a ton of family there and so I think that that kind of made the story better for me.  I can picture everything so well which may have enhanced my reading experience.
I loved the main character, Clara.  I may have gotten annoyed once or twice with her decisions but it wasn’t anything big.  I thought she was brave and smart and determined.  She knew she had a job to do and she was going to do it.  But when matters of the heart got in the way- well, that kind of changes things doesn’t it?  Luckily she dealt with her situation quite well.  I thought.
Now there’s a love triangle in this book.  I’m not sure I’m really a fan of love triangle’s, but some work out okay and I’m not too annoyed.  That was this one.  I actually really liked how the author set it up.  It felt real and things really made sense.  Although I saw the triangle itself from a mile away I had no idea what direction it would go.  Luckily I was *very* happy with the direction it went.
The ending is something I find important in a book.  I hate cliffhangers.  I like some resolution but things open for the next book.  This one had that.  There were plenty of issues to deal with but it wasn’t a cliffhanger.  Even without the cliffhanger I’m very anxious for the next one though!
I give this one 5/5 moons!  I loved it!
